|Quantification of the research output of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University at Cologne|
||Prof. Dr. Rolf Sternberg
||The aim of the project is the quantification of research output of the
Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University at Cologne in terms of journal
publications, as well as a comparison with eleven reference faculties at German universities.
Numerous publication and citation measures from the SSCI-database are used to identify the
comparative strengths and weaknesses of the ten subjects investigated at the faculties.
Output and productivity measures have been explicitly entered into the analysis
in order to depict the varying sizes of the faculties and the subjects. The results show
that the faculty in Cologne is among the middle-ranking positions, but that individual
subjects deviate strongly from the overall result. From a bibliometric point of view, it
appears that the publication output of entire faculties can only be recorded if numerous
measured values are used.
||The project has been carried out at the Department of Economic and Social Geography at the University at Cologne. It is part of the Centre for Empirical Economic and Social Research's work focal point "Evaluation of Research and Teaching".
